Happy pets make happy people
Breadloaf & Matt
“Thank you to everyone who donates to Harley’s Hope and to the people at the organization. Breadloaf is my best friend, he’s my family.”
Breadloaf & Matt
This sweet face belongs to Breadloaf, a 5 year old Corgi who lives with Matt, a disabled veteran and a full time student at CSU. Matt had put Breadloaf in his fenced yard, and just minutes later, made the awful discovery that the dog had found a way out and was hit by a car. Breadloaf was transported to his veterinarian, who treated his collapsed lung and diagnosed the dog with multiple pelvic fractures. Matt, along with his girlfriend, Emily, set up a Gofundme account and immediately began looking for help to save Breadloaf’s life. The dog was transferred to Planned Pethood International, and successfully underwent two orthopedic surgeries just 48 hours apart. HHF was able to offer a maximum grant to help Matt and Breadloaf out. We are happy to report that Breadloaf went home just days after his second surgery and is doing very well.
Rascal & Elizabeth
“As you can see, he is recovering well. My sincere gratitude and thanks to all involved. With love and hope, Liz and Rascal.”
Rascal & Elizabeth
Elizabeth and Rascal are family, so when Rascal was diagnosed with a perineal hernia, Elizabeth was concerned about getting her pup the surgery he needed. Ordinarily, the retiree could ask her daughter for help, but her daughter is currently unemployed due to the Covid-19 Pandemic. Elizabeth’s veterinarian referred her to HHF for assistance, we approved a grant, and Rascal successfully underwent surgery. The tiny canine is back home where he belongs and Elizabeth is one grateful pet parent, saying “As you can see, he is recovering well. My sincere gratitude and thanks to all involved. With love and hope, Liz and Rascal.”
The stories vary, but the smiles are all the same. When we’re able to keep people with their pets, they both thrive.
Sadie Bear & Carolyn
“Harley’s Hope came to my rescue. They did a lot for us – they saved Sadie.”
Sadie Bear & Carolyn
Adorable Sadie Bear is a 7 year old Basset Hound/Dachshund mix who underwent surgery to remove some rather large bladder stones. While a fairly common problem, bladder stones, if left untreated, cause pain, bleeding, can damage bladder tissue, and even cause potentially life-threatening blockages. Sadie Bear’s person, Carolyn, lives on SSDI and this was her second major surgery in just a few years. Carolyn describes the experience of knowing her dog needed surgery she couldn’t afford as “scary” but is grateful that she received help and didn’t have to put Sadie to sleep or relinquish her.
Mowgli & Sue
“Thank you again for helping give Mowgli the chance to add years to his adventures! We are and forever will be, eternally grateful for the help Harley’s Hope provides.”
Mowgli & Sue
“Just wanted to send an update…it was 4 years ago on 4/8 that Mowgli had his orthopedic surgery that Harley’s Hope helped fund. He is still going strong despite a cancer diagnosis 18 months ago. Because we were able to repair his leg, he still walks and hikes with me 5 miles a day. He never lets the cancer or arthritis slow him down. Thank you again for helping give Mowgli the chance to add years to his adventures! We are and forever will be, eternally grateful for the help Harley’s Hope provide.”
